Supervisory Development Process

Are you providing your supervisors with the skills and information they need to achieve success for themselves and for your organization? Supervisory skill- or the lack of it – directly affects every company’s bottom line. Each day, decisions made by supervisors are crucial to the success or failure of every project. Because your organization and the business environment is constantly changing, supervisory development should be an ongoing process. In today’s competitive environment, where companies are faced with escalating industry regulations and an increasingly unpredictable workforce, every company has a need for trained, qualified supervisors at all levels, from front line managers to executive directors.

Unfortunately, access to this type of training is often available only to a chosen few due to the expense involved in sending employees out of town to attend a seminar. Registration fees, travel expenses, and several days of lost work time add up to a substantial price tag.

Now, local businesses and organizations in Southwest Louisiana can obtain the training they need for their supervisors with the Supervisory Development Process, a comprehensive training program offered by the Safety Council of SWLA. This program is designed to cultivate and enhance the leadership skills of any organization’s supervisory personnel.

Real Benefits

The Supervisory Development Process offers area companies the quality of a national program with several distinct advantages:

  • Low cost
  • Convenience of local accessibility (no travel expenses; limited time away from work)
  • Local experts who are familiar with Louisiana laws and regulations
  • Flexible scheduling
  • Small class sizes
  • Up-to-date information on safety, EEOC and other regulatory information specific to area industries
  • Customization options for your organization (on-site courses available; unique factors of your workplace can be addressed by request)
  • Classes are conducted in the morning within 4 hours or less

Who Should Attend

Our training modules are geared for new supervisors as well as more experienced, long-term managers. Each module offers fresh insight that will sharpen the skills of even the most seasoned manager. The program is designed for a mix of people from all types of organizations and different levels of experience.

The eight modules of the Supervisory Development Process address the knowledge and skills that every supervisor must have in order to be an effective manager of people, time and company resources. Each module is designed to cover a specific area of critical supervisory skills and attendees receive both content training and opportunities to practice important skills. Small class sizes-limited to 22 participants-increase the opportunity for discussion, role-playing and situational problem solving.

Larger classes can be easily accommodated with advance planning, and any module, or the entire series, can be conducted on-site, and tailored to any organization or company upon request.

This program is designed to allow participants to “pick and choose” based on their needs. Each module is a “stand alone” program and does not require attendance in any specific order. A Certificate of Completion will be presented to participants completing these eight core skills modules. Discounts are available to Safety Council SWLA members and for multiple participants from an organization.
